遠く離れた東京から森のために、私たちができること

東京ステーションホテルは今年、100 年先の未来へつなぐ SDGs 活動の一環として、今年、一般社団法人 more trees（モア・トゥリーズ）が全国で展開する、森林保全プログラム〈企業の森づくり〉に参画、岩手県大船渡市三陸町綾里熊之入（りょうりくまのいり）に”東京ステーションホテルの森”を開始いたしました。

遠く離れた東京からでも、一つひとつの行動が大船渡にある”東京ステーションホテルの森”へ、ひいては未来の地球環境につながることを皆さまにも実感していただくために「from TOKYO for the FOREST」というプロジェクトスローガンを掲げ、森林保全活動への募金受付をスタートいたします。

お寄せいただいた寄付金は、森林保全団体 more trees が行う苗木の育成に活用いただきます。皆さまのご支援が、日本の森に新たな命を育む力に。自然を未来へつなぐ意思表示として、ぜひご参加ください。

寄付への感謝の気持ちとして、国産スギの間伐材を使用したチャリティーうちわをご用意。1,000 円以上の寄付にご協力いただいた方へ先着600名様にプレゼント！手に取るたびに森とのつながりを感じていただきながら未来の森づくりと社会貢献に参加できるチャリティーアイテムです。

From Tokyo, we can help nurture the forests of tomorrow.

The Tokyo Station Hotel is proud to launch "from TOKYO for the FOREST," a donation campaign supporting forest conservation through more trees, a Japanese environmental organization. Donations will help nurture tree seedlings and restore forests for future generations.

Guests who donate ¥1,000 or more will receive a charity hand fan crafted from Japanese cedar thinned during responsible forest management, available to the first 600 donors.

百余年の歴史を重ねた東京ステーションホテル。一時赤レンガの駅舎の目の前にビアホールがあったのをご存じでしょうか。

東京ステーションホテル開業75周年記念事業のひとつとして、現在のロビーラウンジ前にあたる場所に「東京ビール工場」がオープン。1990年6月から2005年までの15年間、夏の風物詩として多くのお客様に親しまれました。

夕暮れとともに灯りがともる開放的なビアホールには、仕事帰りの会社員やご家族連れ、旅行者が集い、東京駅丸の内駅舎を眺めながら冷えたビールを楽しむ光景が広がっていたことでしょう。当時の賑わいを懐かしく思い出される方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。

時代とともにその姿は幕を閉じましたが、人々が集い、心豊かな時間を過ごす場所でありたいという想いは、今も東京ステーションホテルに受け継がれています。

For over a century, The Tokyo Station Hotel has welcomed guests with timeless hospitality. Did you know that there was once a beer hall in front of the iconic red-brick Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building?

Opened in 1990 as part of the hotel’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the “Tokyo Beer Factory” became a beloved summer tradition for 15 years. Office workers, families, and travelers gathered here to enjoy a cold beer while admiring the historic station at sunset.

Although the beer hall is now part of history, our wish to create a place where people come together and share meaningful moments lives on.

皆さまの願いが、どうか天へ届きますように。🎋

7月1日から7日まで、ゲストラウンジ「アトリウム」で開催した七夕ウィーク。多くのお客様の願いを短冊に託していただきました。

後日、皆さまからお預かりした短冊を携え、神田神社（通称：神田明神）へ。730年に創建され、丸の内を含む108町の氏神様として古くから親しまれている神社です。ご祭神は、大己貴命（おおなむちのみこと）-だいこく様、少彦名命（すくなひこなのみこと）-えびす様、そして平将門命（たいらのまさかどのみこと）-まさかど様の三柱です。

巫女のご案内のもと、略式小忌衣（りゃくしき おみごろも）を身にまとい、本殿へと進みました。

厳かな空気の中、皆さまの願いが無事に天へ届くよう祈りを捧げ、短冊はお焚き上げをしていただくため、心を込めて奉納いたしました。

During our Tanabata Week, held from July 1 to 7 in the Atrium Guest Lounge, many guests shared their heartfelt wishes by writing them on tanzaku (traditional wish strips).

A few days later, we brought every tanzaku to Kanda Shrine, also known as Kanda Myojin. Founded in 730, it has long served as the guardian shrine for 108 neighborhoods, including Marunouchi. The shrine enshrines three deities: Ōnamuchi-no-Mikoto, Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto, and Taira no Masakado-no-Mikoto.

Guided by a shrine maiden (miko), we wore traditional ceremonial garments and proceeded to the main sanctuary.

In the quiet and sacred atmosphere, we offered our prayers, hoping that every wish would reach the stars. The tanzaku were then respectfully dedicated to the shrine for the traditional otakiage fire ritual.

「旅人の喜び」という花言葉を持つクレマチス。東京駅丸の内駅舎の南北ドームにも意匠されているモチーフですが、今日はもう一つの花アカンサスについてのお話。

コリント式柱頭で良く見られるアカンサス装飾は、古代ギリシャの建築家が「墓前の籠をつたうアカンサスの葉」から着想を得たという逸話で知られています。生命力あふれる葉が石の装飾へと姿を変え、以来、アカンサスは西洋建築において繁栄や永続性を象徴する意匠として、時代を超えて受け継がれてきました。

東京駅丸の内駅舎にも、このアカンサスのモチーフが随所に見られます。柱や装飾をよく見上げると、優雅に広がる葉の意匠が歴史的建築ならではの美しさを静かに物語っています放っています？。

駅舎を訪れた際には、ぜひ足を止めて、その繊細なディテールにも目を向けてみてください。

Did you know that clematis, the flower symbolizing “the joy of travelers,” is one of the floral motifs adorning the North and South Domes of Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building?

We’d like to introduce another elegant botanical motif found throughout the station: the acanthus.

The acanthus ornament, most famously seen on Corinthian capitals, is rooted in an ancient Greek legend. It is said that the sculptor and architect Callimachus was inspired by the leaves of an acanthus plant growing around a basket left at a gravesite. Transformed from a symbol of nature into enduring architectural decoration, the acanthus has come to represent vitality, prosperity, and timelessness in Western architecture.

Look closely around Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building and you’ll discover this graceful motif throughout its columns and decorative details. The flowing acanthus leaves quietly celebrate the artistry and craftsmanship of this historic landmark.

The next time you visit, take a moment to look up, you may discover that some of the station’s most beautiful stories are hidden in its smallest details.
